TVG’s Secured Keyboard Reader – Technical Features

·         TVG’s reader is capable of reading and writing to any standard smart card.

·         TVG’s reader manages smart card power activate/deactivate, data transmission and reception from/to the smart card, compliant with ISO7816 and Microsoft’s implementation of PC/SC.

·         TVG’s reader recognizes card insertion/removal, and delivers this information securely to device that is interfaced with the reader by a special protocol.

 

Additional features:

·         Reader is based on 8 bit micro controller with 8K mask ROM

·         Compliant with ISO 7816 parts 1-3 (parts 4-6 are supported by software)

·         VCC range 5V± 5%

·         Operation current to smart card - less then 30mA

·         Current supply to smart card – minimum 60mA guaranteed

·         Short circuit detection on power supplied to smart card

·         Clock frequency delivered to smart card is 3.58Mhz. Supported communication baud rates with this clock: 9.6, 19.2, 38.4, 115 Kbps

·         Smart card insertion/removal recognition with patented reliable switch

·         Supported asynchronous smart cards only

·         Operating temperature - 0 °C to 65 °C

Interfacing

Current interface is PC-PS2 keyboard.  PC/SC compliance driver for WIN98, NT, and WIN2000 delivered with reader.  Special optional feature with the Secured Reader is secured pin code. The PIN code entered by the user is buffered in the reader directly without being transmitted to the PC. Other interfacings can be implemented (RS232, USB or custom protocol).
